Increase in colonic PRopionate as a method of prEVENTing weight gain in young adults
Design and Objective
To investigate the impact of a dietary supplement called Inulin Propionate Ester (IPE) versus control , on weight gain prevention in young adults aged 20-35 years. The study will be done at Imperial College London and at the University of Glasgow.
Key inclusion criteria
20-35 years old BMI of 24-27kg/m2 if South Asian ethnicity or 25-30kg/m2 if non-South Asian At least one of the following: - weight gain of 2kg over the last 12 months - low physical activity as per IPAQ (questionnaire) - <2 servings of fruit and vegetables per day - >1 sugary drink per day On stable medication at screening
