Increase in colonic PRopionate as a method of prEVENTing weight gain in young adults
Design and Objective
To investigate the impact of a dietary supplement called Inulin Propionate Ester (IPE) versus control , on weight gain prevention in young adults aged 20-35 years. The study will be done at Imperial College London and at the University of Glasgow.
Key inclusion criteria
20-35 years of age BMI 25-30kg/m2 and at least one of the following: - weight gain of 2kg over the last 12 months - low physical activity (‘inactive’ or ‘minimally active’ as per IPAQ) - low fruit and vegetable intake (<2 servings of fruit and vegetables per day) - high intake of sugar sweetened beverages (>1 serving per day) On stable medication
